George's Wok & Grill
There’s a hidden culinary gem tucked into Yakima, Washington, and if you know, you know—it’s called George’s Wok & Grill. Located at 1210 S 80th Ave, this unassuming spot has become a go-to destination for locals who crave Asian-American fusion with serious flavor and portion sizes that leave you more than satisfied. As someone who’s spent years consulting with restaurants and reviewing menus coast to coast, I can tell you—George’s Wok and Grill isn’t trying to be trendy. It’s trying to be good, and that’s exactly why it works.
Now, if you’re the kind of diner who likes variety, bold sauces, and stir-fried perfection, the George’s Wok & Grill menu is something you’ll want to explore. From the moment you step in, the warm scent of garlic, soy, and wok-charred vegetables fills the space. There’s a casual vibe to the place, but don’t let the laid-back feel fool you—the kitchen knows what it’s doing.
Highlights From the Wok and Grill Menu
Browsing the Wok and Grill menu, you’ll quickly see why this place stays busy. Their classic stir-fry dishes come loaded with your choice of protein—beef, chicken, shrimp, or tofu—and are tossed with fresh-cut veggies in sauces that range from savory to sweet, spicy, and umami-rich. The teriyaki chicken is a crowd-pleaser, glazed in a house-made sauce that strikes just the right balance between smoky and sweet.
One of my personal favorites is the spicy garlic shrimp. It’s got heat, but it’s not overwhelming—just enough to tingle the palate without distracting from the layered flavors in the sauce. Served over a mountain of fried rice or noodles, it’s a dish that feels indulgent without being too heavy.
Then there’s the appetizer game. Egg rolls? Crispy, packed tight, and clearly made with fresh ingredients. Potstickers? Golden brown on one side, perfectly steamed on the other. Even the soups—particularly their hot and sour—have more depth than what you’d expect from a casual joint like this. Georges Wok doesn’t cut corners, and it shows from the first bite.
Local Favorite, Built on Consistency
What makes Georges Wok and Grill such a standout among Yakima’s food scene isn’t just the flavor—it’s the reliability. You can walk in any day they’re open (Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with Saturday hours starting later at 4:00 PM), and you’ll get the same quality every time. That’s something I always look for when evaluating independent restaurants, especially those with a heavy takeout and repeat-customer base.
There’s also a clear level of pride in how dishes are prepared and presented. Even to-go orders come neatly packed, with sauces separate so nothing gets soggy. That attention to detail matters, especially when you’ve got a place that’s earned its regulars through word of mouth.
How It Stands Out
In a region where fast food chains and generic Asian takeout spots are easy to find, George’s Wok & Grill stands out for its clean execution and flavor depth. Sure, you can grab a quick sesame chicken elsewhere—but it won’t have that same made-to-order freshness or the perfectly charred veggies that make George’s version taste like something that came out of a hot wok, not a microwave.
It also competes well beyond the Yakima bubble. Compared to larger fusion chains or even upscale wok-style restaurants in nearby cities, George’s Wok holds its own, especially when you look at price-to-portion ratios. The servings here are generous without being overwhelming, and the pricing is fair—great for families, solo diners, and even couples looking for a casual date-night option.
While you might find a few mentions of Georges Wok online in local directories or food reviews, it hasn’t gone viral—and frankly, that’s part of its charm. The people who know about it are the ones who’ve either been lucky enough to stumble in or were told by someone they trust. And in the food world, that kind of recommendation is still the most valuable one out there.

Their food is always great and service is prompt. You may have to get past the decor but it is well worth a visit.
Food is always good. Service is always good. Usually we get takeout but when we do eat in the pace is feeling dated. Could use some updates and/or a refresh of the interior.
Like the food. Sure others would too. Competition is small in the chinese food arena in Yakima. Too bad it isn't closer in....40th to 48th area would be great.
Ever since discovering George's it's my go place for delicious Chinese food. It's good every time I go, never a bad meal.
Only tried one meal and the mixed appetizer was pretty alright basic American Chinese will be trying something new soon.
